Envying the Dead

Atrios has two links up today about the economy and the budget. They're all a bit connected, but let me summarize.

  1. Morgan Stanley's head economist says "We're screwed".
  2. The GOP's "plan" for dealing with the huge costs associated with even a partial privitization of Social Security is to "Not Count That Money".
Yes, these are the towering intellectual giants running out country. I'm guessing that "Number 1" is a direct response to the thrilling genius of "Numbers 2".

Take a careful look: Bush is the first CEO President, and it appears he learned all he knows from Enron's CEO. You're about to see the dollar and the US economy do the same damn thing Enron's stock did. Welcome to George Bush's America. Leave your peace and prosperity at the door, we're not buying....

What?

A presidential yacht? What the fuck is up with that? I don't care if it was the deal of the century, we shouldn't be buying the damn President -- any President, much less "Mr Man of the People" a goddamn yacht with a half trillion dollar budget shortfall.

Frankly, we shouldn't ever since the President doesn't need a damn yacht (I understand Saddam Hussein had a nice one. Perhaps Bush is just envious?) in the first place.
